Rembang, October 21, 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Diponegoro University, through its Department of Public Administration, has once again organized a Community Service Program entitled “SDGs-Based Digital Transformation: Optimizing the Use of the Canva Graphic Design Platform in Managing Promotions for Karangjahe BUMDes to Support Sustainable Economic Growth.”

The activity was held in the Hall of Karangjahe BUMDes, Punjulharjo Village, Rembang Regency, and was attended by more than 15 participants consisting of BUMDes managers, MSME actors, and village officials.

This program is a follow-up to previous community service focused on the digitalization of archives and documents, now directed at strengthening digital promotion capacity and village tourism branding. Through training on using the Canva application, participants were trained to create various promotional contents such as posters, banners, and social media posts that are attractive and efficient. This activity was designed to help BUMDes managers adapt to the digital era, enhance the competitiveness of Karangjahe Beach tourism, and encourage community participation in a technology-based creative economy.

The UNDIP community service team is chaired by Prof. Dr. Drs. Hardi Warsono, M.T., with members Dr. Dra. Augustin Rina Herawati, M.Si.Nilam Adini Rakhma, M.A.P.Irfan Murtadho Yusuf, S.A.P., MPM., and Junjung Sahala Tua Manik, S.Sos., M.A.P., along with two UNDIP students in Rembang, Fiona Maritza and Adrian Ade Pratama. This activity is also part of the implementation of sustainable development goals, specifically SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

In his speech, Prof. Hardi Warsono stated that “Digital transformation is not merely about technology, but about building the community’s capacity to be independent, creative, and empowered in managing their village’s potential. Through Canva, villagers can create without limits and market local potential globally.”

The training was packaged interactively with light quizzes, hands-on practice, and simulations of creating promotional designs. Participants showed high enthusiasm, evident from their active participation in every session and their design works which were immediately uploaded to the official BUMDes social media. The community service team also provided a collaborative Canva Pro account to the Karangjahe BUMDes managers for use in ongoing promotional activities.

With the successful implementation of this activity, FISIP UNDIP hopes to strengthen the contribution of higher education in empowering rural communities towards sustainable digital transformation and to expand the impact of technology-based creative economy in the coastal areas of Central Java.
